I love going out to my mailbox this time of year. There is always some new gardening catalog that allows me the chance to dream of what next years garden could be.
Here are some of my top choices and why you should be on their mailing list as well.
American Meadows ( They used to be Vermont Wildflower Farm) They have a huge selection of natives, but have expanded their catalog to include other plants from grasses to perennials, trees, books and more.
Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds Many varieties that aren't offered other places
Bluestone Perennials Reasonably priced, large selection of perennials. They have an extensive online catalog that gives wonderful information and allows you to search by zone, color, height, bloom time and more.
Brent and Becky's Bulbs They used to be the Daffodil Mart, which they sold to White Flower Farm. They have some of the harder to find bulbs and perennials.
The Cook's Garden They specialize in seeds that produce fruits and vegetables known to have outstanding flavor.
Jackson and Perkins They are known for their roses but they also have unique garden ornaments.
Lilipons Water Garden Everything you could ever need for your water garden.
Logee's Greenhouse I'm not kidding, I have never seen so many neat Rex Begonias and unusual tropicals. It costs $4.95, but you get that back with your first order
Park's Seeds It's family owned for one thing, and they've been around for over 100 years!
Plant Delights My favorite catalog of all. From Tony Avents wry commentary and humor to his variety of the plants he offers, this is one catalog I will read over and over.
Seed Savers Exchange They started the whole heirloom seed movement. But, if you really want to get something out of them, become a member, it will open your whole seed world up to other members.
White Flower Farm Reads like a garden magazine. Their prices are a little steep but the quality is worth it.
Those are just a few of my choices, but if you have one that I haven't included, I'd love for you to let me know about it.
Also on the show:
