My Special Guest: Charles Seabrook. He writes the weekly nature diary,
'Wild in Georgia', in the Sunday Living section of the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

Cut Flower and Christmas Tree Preservative:

What you will need:
1 gallon of water
2 cups light corn syrup
4 teaspoons chlorine bleach
4 teaspoons lemon juice or vinegar (optional)

Mix the solution together.  Bleach and vinegar produce harmful vapors when mixed,
to avoid this, add them to the water first.

You can substitute the corn syrup with 7-Up or Sprite but it has to be the regular kind
NOT diet.  Trees don't care about being fat, they like sugar!

You must mark or lable your bottle 'DANGER',  something that let's you know not to
drink it!  Keep out of the reach of small children and don't let your pets drink the water
either!

You can store your solution for up to two weeks in the fridge or up to 5 days on your
counter.

The next time you pick flowers from your garden or around the holidays for your
cut decorations, give this mixture to your friends. That way they can enjoy your gift
for much longer.

I gave tips on growing plants that scrub the dirty air that is inside all of our homes.
I gave you a list of those house plants, then I gave you sure fire ways to kill them!

Skinner Nurseries Heavy Petal Plant Pick:
Eleanor Craig, owner of Fern Ridge Farms, joined us with her pick - Helleborous niger,
better known as the Christmas Rose

Special Organic Segment:
We welcomed back Dick Byne of Bynes Blueberries.  We had such a response from
our listeners regarding varieties for the south I asked Dick back.  He gave his top
picks for blueberry shrubs that grow best in our southern climate.  But he also discussed
why organic matter is so important

My Special Guest:
